What $100 can buy using coupons


Each photo above accurately represents $100 worth of merchandise. The "On Sale" photo is also approximately what you would spend at Walmart. This is a 100% real photo representation, because I saved my receipts over a few months and then added all of the items retail, sale and after coupon prices then collected them from my own shelves. 

All of the merchandise in the bottom photo would have been $330 buying full retail and $230 buying at the sale price at the time I bought it. I paid just $100 for everything you see in that photo. That is a 70% savings off retail and a 57% additional savings off of the sale price just by stocking up during sales using coupons! 

Note that it isn't all processed junk food, either. (A common myth about couponing.) There's paper and plastic storage goods, cleaning and laundry supplies, over-the-counter medicines and vitamins, baby wipes, hygiene supplies, baking and cooking goods, condiments, canned beans, tomatoes and soups, dried potatoes and pasta, bath and hair goods, coffee and tea and even dairy products!

Saving 50% or more on groceries without coupons!

If you don't want to clip manufacturer coupons from the paper or print them from the internet, you can still save a lot of money just by using couponing strategies!

1. Get a store savings card (a must-have to get the sale prices!)
2. Check flyer for "bundle,"  WYB or "stock up" sales.
3. Check store flyer or booklets found in the store for store "sale" coupons.
4. Stock up on items when they are cheapest.

Here is an example of the savings you can get this week at Pick 'N Save/Copp's just by taking advantage of the sales, in-store flyer and store savings booklet coupons (no clipping or downloading required!) Here is a list showing how you can save 50% or more on many items!

Obviously, you wouldn't want or need all of the items listed below, but if you were to buy everything as listed, you would spend $93.37 instead of $210.89. That is an overall savings of 56% and not one coupon to clip! Of course, if you do have coupons for the items, you can increase your savings even more!

Summer Ham & Pesto Pasta Salad Recipe

This is a new summer pasta salad recipe I came up with while looking for something cool to make on hot summer days. It's very tasty and something quite different from the typical tuna, fake crab or chicken pasta salads. The only thing you have to cook are the noodles and most of the items are common coupon items found in many couponers' stockpiles. I had everything already on-hand except the grape tomatoes and turkey ham. TIP: I bought a 2lb turkey ham and only used 1/2 for this recipe, leaving the other half to freeze for another day!

Summer Ham & Pesto Pasta Salad

1lb rotini, shell or bow tie pasta
1lb turkey or pork ham, diced
8oz cheddar or swiss cheese, diced
1 cup frozen peas
1 pint grape tomatoes

3/4 cup mayonnaise (not "salad dressing")
1/4 cup warm tap water
1 package Knorr Pesto Mix
2 tsp Dijon mustard

Put frozen peas in pasta strainer in sink. Cook noodles per package directions. Strain noodles over peas. Stir noodles and peas under cold water until noodles are cold.

While noodles are cooking, stir together pesto mix and water in a large enough bowl to hold all ingredients. Add mayonnaise and Dijon mustard and stir until smooth. Add noodles, peas, ham, cheese and grape tomatoes to bowl and stir thoroughly to evenly coat everything. Serve right away or refrigerate for an hour or so to let the flavors develop.
